Series 5: Episode 5
On Air 6th June 2009
Boy they say Queensland is big but the scope of the place really hits when you consider it takes three episodes just to highlight a few of the attractions in the Rockhampton area. We have only scratched the surface as we have riden shot gun with the intrepid Dean Allen Craig through some beautiful scenery, meet some great people and spent an incredible amount of time underground. On this weeks show we join Dean on his last part of this tremendous trip, he likes underground, our intrepid reporter, and this week he discovers the Miners Heritage Mine out in Rubyvale…even trying a little fossicking for himself. Sapphires are the gem of choice in this region and the glint in Deans eye is about as close as he gets to a wealthy find. Lucky for us back at home base and you the viewers he doesn’t strike it rich so he will have to stay at his day job. Continuing the gem theme Dean then heads onto Emerald, and finds that the local Information building is made from Hay Bales, smart and ecologically sound. When you are on the road travelling about it is wise to make the most of the Information buildings. They will answer any questions you may have and give you ideas that perhaps you have overlooked. At the very least they are a friendly way of breaking up long drives and we all know how important it is to be safe on the roads. What an amazing statement the local park makes with a huge rendering of “Sunflowers”, by Van Gogh. This is art on a grand scale, well worth stopping. When you do visit here count how many folks are out and about with cameras, this is well worth a photograph. Then it is ever onward to the majesty of the Fairbarn Dam. Lodgings for the evening are at Lake Maraboon Holiday Park. A recent major injection of capital has seen an eye catching upgrade to a lot of the cabin accommodation. We are even treated to a sing a long. This park is breathtaking and so in touch with it’s natural surrounds. Dean then RV Showcases the latest from Jurgens, a large luxury model, the Lunargazer, that believe it or not can be towed by a sedan…WOW. And when one RV Showcase is barely enough we have two in this show, our second highlights the range from Kea, which offer both rental and buying options. Then we change gear a little and follow Tania Kernaghan as she navigates her way around a Caravan show and tells you some tips to get the most out of a day at the show. Of course she meets experts and stall holders along the way and has a close look at a Motorhome, lucky she doesn’t have a company credit card or we all might be producing the show in the back of a motorhome. All that plus another look at what is on offer in our competition. Let’s go and Discover Downunder.
