Series 5: Episode 12

On Air 1st August 2009 (Channel 9)
Well strap into the Talvor Motorhome of your choice, it is time for the second part of our apple isle tour. On today's show we start from Strahan which is virtually wedged half way between Hobart and Launceston.

Â

This lovely water side hamlet is framed by quirky architecture and winding roads, perfect for the motorhomes to traverse. Michelle tells us one more reason why she knocked back Frank’s marriage proposals on their last trip here before taking to the skies. The majesty of this area is on full display as Chas from Strahan Seaplanes and Helicopters soars through the sky is his light plane. A great knowledge of local geography and history is told as the scenery does its own talking.

Back on Terra Firma, Frankie keeps well grounded as he and the boys in the convoy head for the nearby sand dunes for a nice leisurely, relaxed and testosterone filled afternoon of quad biking. Michelle and Frank then come together with daughter Georgia and head for the waters edge as the sun sets beautifully over the water. They are in Risby Cove and over beautiful fresh seafood and mouth watering wine they have a chance to chat about the tour so far with the convoy.

Before long we are back behind the wheel and off to the state capital, Hobart. It is the longest drive of the trip so far and a rest stop is sought along the route. Where better than Lake St. Clair Café. Great scenery once again, no surprise in Tassie and cheap sustaining food are the order of the day. Then it is onward and upward, to Hobart.

Salamanca place, water, boats, café… ahhh! What a fabulous place to relax. Hungary from the drive we head to a water side café, then it is off to Tassal Salmon shop for a demonstration in how to prepare perfect Salmon portions for your next dinner party.

Along the way Deano is along to give us a technical run down of the remaining two Talvors in our herd, the Adventure Camper and the Ford Eurotourer. Motorhomes prove they are a great option for the touring holiday but then again you would be hard pressed not to enjoy Tassie, we did.
