Remote-controlled van mover
If you’ve come to the point in your life where manoeuvring a van around a yard or site has become too difficult, a Powrtouch remote-controlled caravan mover could be the solution.  These UK-made units conform to ISO 9001:2000 quality standards and descend from a broad range of industrial moving solutions, one of which moves a replica NASA space shuttle. They clamp to the van’s chassis, are wired directly into the electrical system, and can be fitted by any qualified mechanic in a matter of hours. Since they’re solidly built and weatherproof, dust, rain and stones shouldn’t pose a problem. The units suit single-axle vans up to 2500kg fully laden, and twin-axle vans up to 2000kg, with an all-terrain option available for twin-axle vans over 1700kg. Level, hard surfaces are ideal, but they’ll move a 1500kg single-axle van or a 1200kg twin-axle van up a one-in-four-gradient. When attached to a single-axle van, the mover can turn the van a full 360°. At present, the only way to see one of these movers in action is to visit a caravan show or to give ACR Caravan Repairs a call and drop by the western Sydney workshop. Powrtouch motorised caravan movers come with a three-year warranty, start from $3150, and are imported and distributed in Australia by ACR Caravan Repairs, 117 The Northern Road, Londonderry, NSW 2753, (02) 4575 0701, www.acrcaravanrepairs.com.au – Andrew Harris As featured in Caravan World issue 454, June 2008.
