Hello Wayne,
Make sure it goes up and down all right , no leaks in Hydraulics and pump and the have used the right oil to the pump. is it a manual pump or 12 volt hydraulic pump. they can be a bit tricky raising and lowering the top if thing s are a bit worn or the guides on the corners are dirt or worn .over all they were a good van, a little heavier than a normal pop top.

It has the standard hand pump and 12v although the current owner says he has never used the 12v pump. It is a 12 footer with two single beds in the back and a front kitchen with a small annex. Do you know how much one this size would weigh? How is the "join" where the top half meets the bottom half sealed when it is in the up position? And when it is down does it allow road dust in? Lots of questions I know and probably still more to more to come!!
Cheers

Hey gregoryl can you tell me what you like and don't necessarily like about them? Interesting yours is 14ft and weighs 795kgs. The one I am looking at is 12ft and the owner tells me it weighs 950kgs with a gvm (thats the loaded weight) of 1150kgs?????

Don't suppose there is anyone out there near Liverpool in NSW as I am in Tassie and it is not going to be possible for me to go have a look at it?

BTW how can you be notified by email from this forum that a post has been made to this thread? Bit of a nuisance having to keep logging in to check.

Hi Have been looking at Prattline caravans but think the price people are asking for these caravans are to high. Could anyone give me a idea what is a reasonable price for the smallest prattline caravan in good condition?
Thankyou

Hi. How did you go with the prattline caravan you were looking at Liverpool? I am also trying to buy one at a reasonable price so if you have any information that could help me would appreciate it very much as there are not any in Tasmania as far as I can find.
Thanks.

Hi Jacek, I have just come across this forum. We have been the owners of a Prattline for nearly 12 years during which time it has almost been completely rebuilt by myself. I am looking to find out more about the 12v hydraulic pump system that you devised and would be pleased to find out the latest information you have.

Thanks Ron

Hi people. I too have recently purchased a 15ft Prattline.
The van itself is in reasonable condition but unfortunately the hydraulics needs looking at.
If anyone has details on how they are setup and how to operate correctly I will be forever greatfull.
Is there a diagram or similar info available? My email is "rick_bailey1@yahoo.com.au"
Thanks in advance

Hi Gordon, we have just bought our first Pratline, found this forum and are extremely interested in changes to hydraulic system and instruction sheets/manuals that you may have access to. We are in Port Hedland and would like more info on the Pratline if you are able to help. Our emails are monikarothwell@bigpond.com.au or vegepatch@live.com.au (Gary)

Hi, have just brought our first caravan, we tried to put the Prattline up & half way through it started to spew stuff out of the pump. We have spare o rings but no idea how to fix, the caravan is stuck 1/2 way with the back being lower than the front, If anyone could advise how to fix i would be most grateful. Thanking You

It maybe that one of the o rings in the pump is broken and leaking oil which maybe the return valve. is there still oil in the system? is the top section jammed against the bottom section or have you shut off the four valves holding the top in its current position. If it has lost all the oil I would prop all four corners repair the leak and then refill the reservoir with new oil solution. If there is still oil in the system and you say the back is lower than the front I would slowly lift the back until level and then slowly release the return valve until down make sure that it goes down evenly which you can control by opening or closing the 4 valves on the pump. If you cannot lift the back by hand then shut off the two rear valves on the pump which I think are 3 & 4 and open the two front valves a quarter of a turn from shutoff and then slowly open the return valve hopefully the front will start to go down. When level shutoff the return valve and open the 2 rear valves a quarter of a turn and then open the return valve slowly and hopefully it will go down evenly. If you have read the earlier posts you will see the replacement oil is Castrol clearedge EP 690. Hope this helps

Further to the reply if you have the rubber o rings for the pump which are smaller than the ones that go in the rams the valves. Screw out the valves from the pump and you will see the rubber o rings replace them be careful that they are seated correctly when screwing them back in so as not to pinch them or damage them. The o rings are still available from Consolidated Bearings

Hi, I have stripped the pump on my Prattline, and reassembled it but the handle still rises when I let it go as I am pumping it up. Can anyone give me clue as how to fix it.

I had a similar problem and decided to have the pump overhauled by a hydraulic specialist and I replaced the rubbers in the rams at the same time and it fixed the problem. If you stripped the pump did you replace the o rings?

Hi all, we have greatly appreciated all the feedback regarding our enquiries to the Prattline caravans. We did install an air/con in a H frame and applied a thermal paint to the roof, both have proven good decisions thusfar. Now the dilemma of the fridge, it is the original absorption model that would have come with the van in 1986. No compressor = warm food and beverages. We live in Port Hedland and are asking if any one on this forum has replaced their Pratline fridges and if so, with what and your thoughts and/or advice on the subject. We do have an Engel running to get us by, however the floor space in the van is being compromised. Any ideas anyone?
