Re: decisions decisions!!! | By sistermoon on 2/07/2010 5:17 p.m. | Hi we spent 5 years looking around and understanding things, we decided to try the kea $1 a day plus insurance approx $40 and transferred a van from cairns to Melbourne in 9 days with $100 towards fuel, still cheap holiday we stayed up qld and done 4 islands then headed back down, anyway good experience for us we made our final decision it was the suncamper sherwood, because the size parks into a normal parking space, the view out the back window is great and it doesnt make you feel all cramped in we chose all lite materials for our interior (as you get to choose all this and the size of the engine) the kea was great but too big to get everywhere if you didnot mind that there great although they are all diesel we got petrol then got gas put on as well with no loss of space its like running a 4 cyl when its a v6 toyota any how you think you can ramble good luck youll love it and they hold their value well |

Re: decisions decisions!!! | By 1669 on 6/08/2010 9:37 p.m. | Maria, I feel for you I was once like you I live far away from SA where the Humpback van are located. I have soon learned that you dont have to go there. All you have to do is fine anyone on the road who's got them and talk to them all the owners are their sales people. They also told me that if you go down to Port Wakefield SA you won't see any salesperson around the yard, no one hazzles you around until you go and get someone for help. Isn't that great! The Humpback vans really sells themself. The staffs are so friendly they treat you like one of the family according to the owners that I spoke to. Also, they told me when they went and picked up their new van they stayed in like a mini caravan site where their new owners can stay and familiarize their van before driving off. What a great idea I thought and where else can offer this unusual service. Ian is the owner and builder he spend hours and hours with new customers teaching and showing them how to operate everything in the van. Well done Ian, I can assure you I will be one of your happy and satisfied customer in the near future. cheers, 1669 |

Re: decisions decisions!!! | By Andycap on 6/08/2010 10:19 p.m. | | I am a humpback owner, on my 3rd 23.6 with independent suspension and all the bells and whistles my last 2 vans I sold making a good profit after a couple of years of use. Absolute fabulous the only van to own does all the things you want and totally unique. If you are a buyer you make a big mistake by not looking at this first I suggest you talk to the people in the know and you would do yourself justice by getting a look that the last 2 or 3 editions of caravan world especially the 40th anniversary edition.Cheers PS, by the way in the last 12months my wife and I in our travels have came across 8 other owners with the same comments we have. |

Re: decisions decisions!!! | By Andycap on 6/08/2010 10:34 p.m. | | No, you won't find them at show as they classified them as glorified damping grounds pretty things but not functionable. They take pride at what they do and give the customer what they should be getting. Most of all their sales are through owners. This comment I forget to make in my last comment to you. Cheers, andycap |

Re: decisions decisions!!! | By happydays on 25/05/2011 9:45 a.m. | | Well Hi again. Its been nearly 12 months since I have been on here. We were trying to plan a trip around our country back then but family held us up. Anyway we are back on it now with all the research etc. Still have not done anything in regards to a van except going to the shows. Not sure where to start with the planning, ie work, finance, whether to sell our house & travel a bit before settling somewhere we might decide we like. As I said before we are only in our early fifties so will need to pick up work around the place. Has anyone out there been in the same position? I would love to hear how you did it. I know we should just bite the bullet & go but worry about the financial side a bit. Some of you would probably think we should just stay put if we dont have the money but lets see what you think. Look forward to hearing any ideas or experiences. regards Maria |
