Alert | Our example of a club which some of you may be fortunate enough to form: We live in a small rural town. A couple of years ago, we decided to buy a caravan again as the kids had all left home. Thought we might get out and about this country of ours a bit more.
By coincidence, we met two local couples who also had caravans. This has now resulted in five couples travelling together, having formed an unofficial caravan club, without presidents or secretaries.
One couple only need to say they would like to go somewhere and we are all gone! We make decisions as a group, with each person being as important as the next. There's nothing like travelling with a great group of friends.

Alert | I hear you John - I think what you are doing un-officially as a club is great! You are focussed on whats important about what we do - Caravanning! Unlike some clubs which are no more than a front for lobbying groups who have nothing better to do than be annoying.... wont mention any names!!!! Cheers and good on you! The Rat

Alert | Hi John P, we've been doing something similar for the past 3 years. Sadly, one of our 'unofficial members', passed away a few weeks ago and the group hasn't been the same since. We really miss our friend.
It's great to have pleasant company while on the road and we also feel safer while in a group especially in out of the way places. Happy camping

Alert | Hello Indigo
Sorry to hear of your friend's passing. I do hope your group remembers all the quality time you've had and will continue your 'happy camping' as time is too short. There is too much of Australia left to see so we can't stop yet.
Keep travelling with your friends and enjoy good company.

Alert | Hi John P, I am a member of a club and have been for the 3 years that it has been running. Like you we like to go away with a small group of friends and in doing so feel that the club scene isn't really for us as it becomes very restrictive in where to go. Please remember the great times you had whilst travelling with your friend and I am sure that he/she would want you to continue and as Indigo said time is short so get back out there. Ken
