Just a quick mention that if you want to find out about a national park, including recent updates on track conditions etc, the relevant state park authorities provide copious amounts of information on the web. You can download park brochures, book campsites, get touring and hiking maps and much more at the following sites:

www.parkweb.vic.gov.au
www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au
www.parks.sa.gov.au
www.nt.gov.au/ipe/pwcnt/
www.parks.tas.gov.au
www.epa.qld.gov.au/parks_and_forests
www.calm.wa.gov.au

Enjoy your travels!

We stayed in Tweed Billabong caravan park for 2 weeks in Oct-Nov. It was lovely & close to everything. Coolangatta just over 3 k's from the park if you like beaches & there's a really nice walking path on the beachfront. The Hinterland has some lovely areas. Natural Arch. Springbrook, Mt Tamborine,Mt Warning, A small village called Chillingham. All lovely places. If you like the casino. There's Jupiters casino about 30k's away at the Surfers Paradise end. Tweed heads has a beautiful club TWIN TOWNS SERVICES CLUB with very nice meals. If you want a different atmoshphere, try NIMBIM. You haven't lived until you've been to NIMBIN. They have a very good market on the week-ends. The Tweed River is walking distance from the park. Not sure about fishing though as hubby hates fishing. We were never bored & went to quite a few of these places & weren't disappointed.
Go into Google & type in Gold Coast Hinterland & there's lots of pictures for you to see. Hope you find what your looking for.
