We've just purchased a van and we're going on our first decent trip in June, heading north from Adelaide.

The manufacturer of our van has already given us some strife, when the roof started leaking on a weekend away. They said we'd have to take it up with our insurer, as we had damaged the pop top through 'improper use'.

We aren't stupid and we know how to work our van.

Problem is, we thought the van was covered by our house and contents insurance, but it's not.

We realise this is our mistake, and we'll be paying for a repair, but now we need to get the insurance sorted out as soon as possible.

So what insurance do we need, and who do we speak to about the manufacturer?

hi John, you will need to get comprehensive insurance on your van the same as a car, speak to your car insurance rep or RACV. GIO, QBE, are some that I know of. As far as the repairs to your van speak to Consumer Affairs in your state, they may be able to talk to your van manufacturer. Good luck and happy travels. Zane.
