Windows on the Wetlands, NT
Perched on Beatrice Hill on the Arnhem Highway, one of the highest points overlooking the Adelaide River floodplains, the upswept roofline of Windows on the Wetlands echoes the wings of the dancing brolga, one of the most spectacular wetland birds. Â Fun interactive displays help to explain the ecological processes that occur in Top End wetlands, which contain some of the most productive land in Australia. Touch-screen computers allow visitors to find detailed information on local Aboriginal and European history, land management and the diversity of wetland animals. The Top commands superb views across the floodplains allowing the opportunity to see spectacular sunsets and lightning storms. Free nature walks are available on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays from May to October, at 9.30am and 2.30pm. Phone (08) 8988 8188.
