Limestone Coast Tourist Park & the Iconic Blue Lake

Tim checks in at the Limestone Coast Tourist Park before visiting the iconic blue Lake

Mount Gambier is a true tourist destination and the town has plenty of accommodation on offer including some great Top Tourist Parks.

In a day and age where bigger is better, the Limestone Coast Tourist Park is a family run business, priding itself on old fashioned service, along with all the modcons including free wireless Internet. The single and two bedroom cabins boast a range of cooking facilities and levels of comfortability to suit all budgets.

Probably THE most famous tourist attraction in the area is the Blue Lake. It’s set in the heart of a volcano. Experts say its last eruption was around 8,000 years ago. To get to the lake you are guided through the old pump station where an interactive display shows how the water from the lake gets to the town folk of Mount Gambier. The lake beckons and it’s a 40 metre lift ride down a well shaft that was originally used to pump water from the lake.Just up the road Tim’s in for another fabulous surprise of nature with a visit to the sunken garden.
