National Museum of Pottery
Geoff and Kerry Ford run the National Museum of Pottery, with more than 13 hundred pieces in the collection, dating back to the 19th century. And believe it or not Geoff and Kerry started the collection during a camping trip. They left Sydney in 1978 in a single decker bus fitted out as a mobile home to work our way right around Australia and spent 10 years living and working out of the bus and had a great time. They started their collection by going to county auctions just as a social outlet and quite often the auctioneer would put 4 or 5 peices together and knock them down to 20 cents so he could sell his items. They started noticing that some of them had the Potters marks on them, and it was the Potters marks that pricked their interest. The most important peice is the Morton wine cooler being terrocota or better known as Eathern wear in this era. It is the only surviving complete Earthern wear piece from the convict period.
