We are taking our camper trailer & three kids on a two week trip along the Murray River starting at Swan Hill on 26/12/08. We are travelling with another couple and their two kids who have a tent. I was after some feedback on a couple of parks that we are staying at. The first is Big4 Pioneer City Tourist Park in Swan Hill for four nights at powered sites then we are off to the Riverlander Caravan Park which is 6.5kms from Echuca and are staying in the camping ground there for three nights and will be there for the big NYE party?? Our final stop is Lake Mulwala Holiday Park on two powered sites for a week. ANY feedback from people who have stayed at any of these parks would be FANTASTIC as it is nearly impossible to find reviews on caravan parks from people staying in tents or campertrailers. Also any feedback on some great things to see on our trip at the places we are staying would also be great. We are also taking our boat for fishing and watersports so any info on the Murray river itself too would be appreciated. We will take anything at this stage. Thanks all.

At that time of the year they will be chokas.
The Big4 in Swan Hill is very good.
The one in Echuca had their Membership to Oz Parks terminated more than a year ago, but for want you want it'll probably fill the bill.

Thanks ozjohn.
We know it will be chokas but because we own our own business and only close for two weeks over Xmas we are getting used to it, but the kids love it.
Do you know why the Riverlander had their membership terminated?

Not up to my expectations or Oz Parks standards when I paid them a visit. May have improved since then. ozjohn.

Another that would almost certainly fit you in, is the Ibis Caravan Park in Kerang. They have large Drive Though Sites and a nice clean pool to keep the kids amused.
Owners Gloria & Phil Perkins are a wonderful couple and treat their guests like family. It's also an Oz Park, so member discount applies.

Thanks Ozjohn your knowledge is invaluable to us newbies at this.
We really wanted to stay in Echuca but because we only wanted to stay 3 nights we found that we couldn't get in anywhere in town(7 night min) so we have a spot down on the camping area on the Mighty Murray at the Riverlander. All we really need are the amenities block to shower each day and will be hopefully skiing or fishing each day and have one day in town to show the kids around.
I have heard that they have new owners at the Riverlander and they are starting to do some improvements. When did you last stay there?
Sorry so many questions but I like to be prepared & you sound very well travelled.

Same owners. They purchased the park a couple of years back. The previous owners had really neglected the park apart from installing a lovely pool. The new (Current) owners really have a big job ahead of them to bring this park up to scratch. As a young energetic couple I think they will probably succeed sooner than latter, but it will probably depend on how many Dollars they can put aside for capital works. I wish them all the best with their endeavors.
